On October 21, 2009 I was playing in a volleyball game. In one instant the next 4-6 months of my life were planned out for me. In one second I fell and tore 3 ligaments, a nerve and chipped a bone in my left foot. Without question, that was the worst pain I have ever felt in my entire life. Since that day I have been unable to do anything on my own. Everything from cooking dinner to taking a bath is impossible to do by myself.
On November 11, 2009 I went under the knife and had the injuries in my left foot corrected. Following the surgery I have been doing my best to stay positive throughout the healing process. Each night as I reflect on my day I make amazing discoveries about life before the accident, my new life in a wheelchair, and the life I hope to have after my incredibly long recovery.
I knew that I wanted to remember this time in my life so when I am back to normal and feeling low or like I just want to lay around I can re read my experiences and be appreciative and remember my longing for normalcy during this time.
If you are reading this, I decided to share it with the world... Lucky you.
